La Brea Tar Pits

Look closely, one of the people that specializes in fossils is Dr. J. A. Holman... who's alma mater is MSU!!!

Took a picture with Brady next to it to give you a good idea of the size of these things!

The La Brea Tar Pits is one of the world's most famous fossil localities, recognized for having the larges and most diverse assemblage of extinct Ice Age plants and animals in the world. They have fossils from between 10,000 and 40,000 years ago here, during the last Ice Age. The reason there are so many fossils is because animals would go into the tar pits thinking it was water, but underneath the thin layer of water was tar, and the animals would then get stuck... Overall a very cool museum... FYI teachers get in free if they bring some sort of proof that they are a teacher.
